Our volunteer fire departmet is a 5/9 department.
We are led by Chief Dennis Holmes. The assistant chief is Darren Sloas. Our captains are Donald and Jason Holmes. Our lieutenants are Brandon Livingston and Gary Livingston.
Exciting news today (2 Feb 2011)! Our department has been awarded a $69,825 Department of Homeland Security grant from Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) to replace our old SCBAs: http://shelby.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=GrantReleases&ContentRecord_id=4D8A6780-4D5E-4308-88BF-C2734BCE3441. Thanks go out to the folks of www.firerescuehelp.com with helping us write the grant.
On 17 Feb 2011, our members revised chaper III of the by-laws to read:
Any person 18 years or older may become a member of the department if they complete an application, pass a drug test and complete (NIMS) ICS-100, 200, 700 and 800. A member may be asked to drop out of the department at the discretion of the department's leadership.
Thanks to the Morgan County Sherriff's Office, they donated a Chevy Avalanch to our department in Jan 2011. See picture below:
